ATLANTA — A Georgia State Patrol trooper shot and killed a wanted murder suspect Wednesday afternoon along a busy interstate, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. along the Interstate 85 northbound exit ramp to Riverdale Road.
The GBI says deputies from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit and GSP troopers located 36-year old Terrell Gas of Lithonia at a College Park apartment complex earlier in the day and were on their way to take him into custody.
GBI investigators say Gas had outstanding arrest warrants for murder and aggravated assault after an incident Tuesday.

Investigators say when the officers tried to initiate a traffic stop on Gas, he sped away. Georgia State Patrol troopers began pursuing him with Gas’s vehicle eventually going down an embankment near Old National Highway and the entrance ramp to I-85 North in south Fulton County.
They added that Gas ran out of the vehicle with a gun prompting troopers to shoot him. Gas was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.
The GBI says one GSP trooper was injured, though not seriously and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The GBI says the investigation into this incident continues and once completed, will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office for their review.
