New solutions to help get dangerous street racing off of the streets of Atlanta and into a safer area are making their debut over the weekend.
Zooming and speeding cars sound much better on a race track than they do on city streets, which is the point of ‘Take It To The Track,’ a new event aimed at making streets safer.

The first of its kind event at Atlanta Motor Speedway wants to get racers off the street and onto a race track so they can ride legally.
“The chance to drive your car fast legally and not worry about you know hurting somebody or yourself. You can do it in a legal capacity,” said driver Lonnie Andry.
“This is basically to promote people from doing drift events on the street and bring it to the track. Be safe out here,” said co-owner of Daily Driven Car Group Rhyan Davis.

Car groups and enthusiasts from around the metro were invited, and plenty of them showed up. Organizers say roughly 2,000 people were in attendance.
Andry said he was able to get his Lexus up to 120 miles per hour on the track.
“It was very exhilarating. I’ve done older tracks before but never a road course. So it was definitely something different,” Andry said.
With speeds that high, organizers are hoping amateur racers have found a new and safer home.
