ATLANTA — The Atlanta streetcar is back months after it was removed, according to a Thursday news release from MARTA.
MARTA removed the four streetcar vehicles from service on Nov. 29, 2022, after engineers discovered wheel deterioration could pose a safety risk.
Only one of the four streetcars has been replaced as of Thursday, however, the other three vehicles will be replaced in the coming weeks.
“After a couple of days of testing, the streetcar is ready to resume its route,” said MARTA Chief Operating Officer George Wright. “We ask that everyone who works, lives, or visits downtown to TRENDING STORIES:

MARTA shuttle vans, wrapped to look like the streetcar, will continue servicing the route until all vehicles return to service.
The cost of the replacement wheels for four vehicles was approximately $400,000 and paid through MARTA’s capital budget, according to a news release.
