ATLANTA — Shoppers are starting to see empty shelves at grocery stores and home improvement stores across Metro Atlanta. This comes as many folks are stocking up and preparing to hunker down when temperatures begin to plummet.
The frigid forecast is a major learning curve for many homeowners, some who have turned to YouTube for tips and advice on how to adjust to extreme temperatures.

However, it didn’t take long for folks to figure out they needed materials for their pipes and faucets.
Channel 2′s Elizabeth Rawlins was at the Cobb County Home Depot along Cumberland Parkway on Monday, when there were plenty of heaters, piping insulation and faucet covers.
Rawlins was back there on Wednesday and there was hardly anything left.
She spoke to one lucky shopper who snagged one of the last faucet covers.

“I actually ordered it online and picked it up,” the shopper told Rawlins.
But as of Wednesday night, supplies online were also very limited.

Meanwhile, shoppers at nearby grocery stores are also running into similar issues, struggling to find basic staples for their pantry. And while it’s not too late to prepare for the cold, it may be too late for some shoppers.
