ATLANTA — Newly released surveillance video shows the moments before a hail of gunfire at a local recording studio that ended with two men dead.
Members of one victim's family who were shown the video by Channel 2’s Sophia Choi said they recognized
at least one individual in it.
Investigators gave Choi the surveillance video even before members of aspiring rap artist Jerome Blake's family got a chance to see the moments before he was gunned down.
“This boy has been with Jerome, I know it for a fact,” said Gregory Ross, Blake’s uncle. “I have seen him at more than one occasion too.”
The video shows five men enter the Metropolitan Studio in southwest Atlanta last Wednesday. Some had guns and one had a computer.
“If they were entering under the guise of perhaps an artist, maybe with a laptop to convince whoever's letting them in that they're there to record,” said Detective Vince Velazquez with the Atlanta Police Department.
But the door was open, so the five men simply walked in. Then video shows several of them rush out.
“The shooting is taking place, and they're in and out, in and out,” Velazquez said.
One of the five intruders, though, never made it out.
Nathan Hannon, 27, was the last man seen on the video walking into building, with a ball cap on backward.
“There were other people inside the studio. There were weapons there. There's a good possibility that they fired back,” Velazquez said.
Police say the whole thing was all over in just 10 minutes, leaving Blake’s family with a lifetime of heartache.
“Turn yourself in. Do the right thing,” said Nikitta Stevens, Blake’s cousin.
