Police blow up suspicious package outside SCAD Atlanta, lanes of Peachtree Street reopened

ATLANTA — Police have blown up a suspicious package that had part of Peachtree Street shut down near the Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta campus.

A student shared with Channel 2 Action News an alert sent by SCAD warning students about police activity in the area Friday evening.

Police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News they are investigating a suspicious package in the area.

Views from NewsChopper 2 show police cars near one of the SCAD entrances and blocking off some lanes near the Deering Road intersection.

Police say the package was considered nonhazardous and roads have reopened.
