Memorial Day weekend kicks off with music and stars across the Atlanta metro area.
Here are some things to check out.
Atlanta Memorial Day Classic 5K
May 29 at 8 a.m.
The fourth annual Atlanta Memorial Day 5K on Monday at the Historic Fourth Ward Park.
Memorial Day Ceremony at Smyrna Veterans’ Memorial
May 29 at 9:30 a.m.
Staff Sergeant Tamara Kosoris will be the speaker at the annual Memorial Day ceremony, which kicks off at 9:30 a.m. in the Smyrna Community Center. Kosoris has lived in Smyrna since 2016 and owns the Viking Alchemist Meadery. She was in the USMC Marine Band from 1998 - 2004.
Ceremony at Brook Run Park Veterans Memorial
May 29, 10 a.m.
Brook Run Park Veterans Memorial will have a morning ceremony to honor veterans, featuring several speakers and singers in Dunwoody.
Roswell Remembers Memorial Day
May 29 at 11 a.m.
The 24th Annual Roswell Remembers Memorial Day Ceremony starts at 11 a.m. at Roswell City Hall. The program will include a military ceremony, presentation of colors, the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, POW/MIA tribute and laying of the wreath.
Memorial Day at Marietta National Cemetery
May 29 at Noon
Veterans will be honored at a Noon ceremony. Over the weekend, thousands of volunteers will plant more than 17,000 flags on veterans’ graves.
Memorial Day Atlanta Car Show Parade
May 29 at 5 p.m.
The parade starts off on West Peachtree Street and heading downtown to Atlanta rapper Rick Ross’ mansion.
Atlanta Jazz Festival, at Piedmont Park
May 27 - 29
The Atlanta Jazz Festival is free at Piedmont Park and running all weekend.
Stone Mountain Memorial Day Weekend
May 26-29
Stone Mountain will have a fireworks show featuring the Air National Guard Band of the South and a drone and light show by Music Across America. Events at the state park will run for four days, from Friday to Monday.
