ATLANTA — Atlanta police said a fight involving a love triangle led to three people being shot Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. along Illinois Avenue in northwest Atlanta.

Police told Channel 2's Richard Elliot bullets started flying, all over a woman.

“There were at least five or six shots fired. There could have been more, but it was a very reckless act, for sure,” said Lt. Andrea Webster, with the Atlanta Police Department.

Elliot looked on as detectives gathered evidence from the front yard of a house where they discovered three people shot.

Investigators said an angry ex-boyfriend showed up at the house and started arguing with his former girlfriend and another man. That led to gunfire, and bullets hit all three.

Witnesses told Channel 2's Alyssa Hyman children could have been hurt.

"Kids play right there every day. It's by the store where kids are walking," Erica Stillwell said. "It's really scary because we were going to be out here working in the yard."

Police found two handguns at the home and said they collected video they hope captured the gunfight.

All of the victims were taken to a nearby hospital.

The ex-boyfriend, who was shot in the head, was last listed in critical condition. Police said the woman and other man -- who were shot in the hand and stomach, respectively -- are expected to survive.
