ATLANTA — On Nov. 2, cities across the state, including Atlanta will vote for new mayors and city council members. Early voting started Oct. 12 and lasts until Oct. 29.
More than a dozen people have officially announced that they’re running for Atlanta mayor.
Here are the key dates you need to know.
2021 State elections and voter registration calendar:
October 4, 2021: Last day for a person to register and be eligible to vote in the November General Election and Runoff Election. O.C.G.A. § 21-2-224(a)
October 8, 2021: Last day to submit absentee ballot application for the October Special Election Runoff
October 11, 2021: Columbus Day Holiday (State is closed)
October 11, 2021: Earliest day for a registrar to mail an absentee ballot for the November General/Special Election.
October 12, 2021: Advanced (Absentee In-Person) Voting begins for the November General Election.
October 16, 2021: Mandatory Saturday Voting for the November Municipal General/Special Election
October 17, 2021: Optional Sunday Voting for the November Municipal General/Special Election
October 22, 2021: Last day to submit absentee ballot application for the November General Election
October 23, 2021: Mandatory Saturday Voting for the November Municipal General/Special Election
October 24, 2021: Optional Sunday Voting for the November Municipal General/Special Election
November 2, 2021: General election
November 11, 2021: Veteran’s Day Holiday (State is closed)
November 19, 2021: Last day to submit absentee ballot application for the November General Election Runoff
Make Sure You’re Eligible
To register to vote, you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a legal resident of the county
- Be at least 17 1/2 years of age to register and 18 years of age to vote
- Not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude
- Have not been found mentally incompetent by a judge
Fill Out & Submit a Voter Registration Application
- Register Online through the Secretary of State’s online voter registration system.
- Register by Mail - Download and complete the postage-paid voter registration application and mail it to the Secretary of State’s office.
