ATLANTA — President-elect Donald Trump has nominated NFL and Georgia Football legend Herschel Walker as US Ambassador to the Bahamas.
“A successful businessman, philanthropist, former Heisman Trophy winner, and NFL Great, Herschel has been a tireless advocate for youth sports. During my First Term, he served as Co-Chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. Herschel has traveled to over 400 Military installations around the World, removing the stigma surrounding mental health. He represented the United States at the 1992 Winter Olympics as a member of the U.S. bobsled team,” Trump said in a statement.
Walker has been a longtime ally of Trump’s.

The president-elect was one of the main drivers behind Walker’s failed U.S. Senate run to unseat Rev. Raphael Warnock in 2022.
Warnock won by a slim margin in a runoff election.
“I’m not going to make any excuses, because we put up one heck of a fight,” Walker said at the time. “One of the things I want to tell all of you is that you never stop dreaming. I want you to continue to believe in America and believe in our elected officials and in our Constitution.”
The campaign did not come without scandal. With Walker running as a Conservative, he was against abortion.
During the campaign, two women came out and said Walker paid for them to have one.
Walker denied those allegations.
