ATLANTA — Atlanta police have taken two teen suspects into custody in a shooting inside Lenox Square Mall this evening.
Police say the guard, whose identity has not been released but is in his early 40s, was approached inside the mall by a 15-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl and shot.
Police on the scene of the shooting said two suspects fled the mall to the nearby Westin Hotel, where they were captured and taken into custody.
The guard is in the hospital in critical but stable condition, Atlanta police said Monday.
The teens have been charged with:
- Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder.
- Armed Robbery
- Aggravated Assault
- Tampering with Evidence
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under the Age of 18 Years
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a FelonyInvestigators say it is unclear at this time exactly how this incident began.
Atlanta police K9s found a firearm near the scene.
The teens’ identities have not been released because they are juveniles.
Police said they are searching for someone in a small blue car that may be connected to the incident.
