DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Brookhaven police say an Uber driver was shot multiple times during a road rage incident early Monday morning.
Police say they were called out to Buford Highway and Briarwood Road around 4 a.m. and found the driver injured with two gunshot wounds.
Deputy Chief of Police Brandon Gurley said the shooting is being investigated as a road rage incident. The other vehicle involved in the shooting left the scene and police are searching for it.
Gurley said the Uber driver was on duty but did not have any passengers at the time of the shooting.
The driver was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and thigh. The victim is expected to survive. Police said he did not have a weapon.
Authorities are working to identify the exact make and model of the other car involved but police believe it was “white passenger car.”
Police have closed part of the area due to their investigation.
