ATLANTA — Vice President Kamala Harris returned to the Peach State on Saturday for an Atlanta campaign rally at Lakewood Amphitheater.
Among those in attendance was Atlanta’s own Usher, who spoke about the importance of this election.
During her speech, Harris admitted that the race between her and former President Donald Trump was going to be a close one.
“We have 17 days left. Seventeen days left in one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime,” Harris said. “It’s going to be a tight race until the very end. And we are the underdog, and we are running as the underdog. But make no mistake, we will win.”

Harris once again highlighted Georgia’s current abortion law and reiterated the story about Amber Thurman and how she lost her life after not getting the care she needed in a timely manner. Her family blames Georgia’s heartbeat law.
“We all know this is a health care crisis. This is not something theoretical. This is not just about a political conversation. It’s very real. And Donald Trump is the architect. Women are being denied care during miscarriages, some only being treated once they develop sepsis. And tragically, because of these bans, some women have even died,” Harris said.
She also invoked the late Rep. John Lewis, urging people to get out and vote.

“John Lewis reminded us that democracy is not a state. It is an act. So, Georgia now is our time to act. The baton is in our hands,” Harris said.
So far, more than 1.3 million ballots have been cast in Georgia so far, either in person or by mail. Democrats hope an expansive organizing effort will boost Harris against Trump in the campaign’s final weeks.
Harris referenced that former President Jimmy Carter recently voted by mail days after his 100th birthday.
“If Jimmy Carter can vote early, you can too,” Harris said.
Trump’s campaign released a statement Saturday about Harris’ visit, saying:
“Kamala Harris is back in Georgia today because she’s finally realized her strategy of gaslighting Georgians isn’t quite sticking. Georgia families remember what life was like four years ago – lower prices, more money in our pockets, no wars and a closed southern border. Kamala’s desperate, last-minute plea to win over Georgians proves how out of touch she is and why Georgia will vote to send President Trump back to the White House this November.”
Harris is expected to stay in the Atlanta area and attend church services at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday morning.
While she campaigns in metro Atlanta, former President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican National Committee Chairwoman, and Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump campaigned on behalf of the former president in Rome, Georgia on Saturday morning.
