Warnock campaign look to appeal to Hispanic, Latino voters in close race with Walker

ATLANTA — A big Hollywood star came to Atlanta Wednesday night to inspire Hispanic and Latino voters to head to the polls.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the force behind Broadway’s Hamilton and Disney’s Encanto, is the latest big name to visit Georgia with less than three weeks until election day.

Miranda campaigned for Sen. Raphael Warnock near downtown Atlanta.

“I’m glad to be in Atlanta because I love it here. I also want to say that, and you hate to be the guy who quotes the lyric from the band, but history has its eyes on you,” said Miranda, quoting a famous line from Hamilton.

Miranda joined Warnock at the rally targeting Hispanic and Latino voters, with new polling showing those voters closely divided.

Warnock took the opportunity to go after his Republican opponent, Herschel Walker.

“Listen, let me just make it plain. Herschel Walker isn’t ready to be the United States senator from Georgia,” said Warnock. “But we’re ready.”

Meanwhile, this week, Walker brought out his own big-name supporter, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham.

On Wednesday, Walker campaigned in Perry, Georgia.

“What we’ve done is that we’ve put people in Washington that have forgotten about the people who elected them to go,” said Walker.

Walker’s event came a few days after Walker and Warnock faced off in Friday’s debate.

“I’m not afraid of him. But he was afraid of me when he left, wasn’t he?” said Walker about Warnock.

More big names are scheduled to campaign in Georgia later this month, including former president Barack Obama on Oct. 28.
