ATLANTA — An apartment complex in southeast Atlanta is breaking 150 of the city’s codes.
Police say their Code Enforcement Unit conducted an investigation at the Forest Cove Apartments on New Town Circle in July and found them to have 150 violations of city codes.

Officers found broken windows, open units, vacant units that were improperly boarded, damaged siding, abandoned, inoperable vehicles, severe overgrowth, burned buildings and areas of accumulated debris and trash.
“We are appalled that some property owners and landlords have no shame or feel no responsibility to do what is right when it comes to living conditions like this. Clearly these same owners, and landlords, who collect rent on these units from the most disenfranchised people in our community, would not live in the same squalor or want their families to live in rundown and dangerous housing like this,” said representatives with the police department. “Yet, they turn a blind eye when it is other people living in these spaces. There is no humanity in this situation. The disconnect is unfathomable.”

Police turned over the code violations to the Office of the City Solicitor.
It is unclear whether or not the violations have been fixed since then, or what penalties the apartment complex could incur if they are not.
