Family members told Channel 2′s Candace McCowan he was on his way home from work at the time.
Bennett’s sisters, Carriengton Irving and Nya Bennett, wrote on a GoFundMe that they demand answers about what happened to their brother that day.
“We have been left in the dark,” the sisters wrote. “The stories being reported ultimately do not matter because there is an injustice here.”
Georgia Bureau of Investigation officials said Bennett attempted to flee when the officers stopped him; however, the officers caught up to him, they fought and when Bennett tried to escape a second time, officers shot him.

MARTA officers told Channel 2 Action News that had the man complied with officers, he would not have been taken to jail for the marijuana cigarette.
“Osiris every day would research on how to better himself as a man, whether that be mentally, physically, or spiritually. He wanted better for himself and the people around him,” they wrote. “He was a provider, a protector, very ambitious, respectful, and extremely goal driven. He would go out his way to make sure everyone he loved was straight and taken care of. Hard-working would be an understatement of how driven he was.”

The women said they would use the money raised to request a separate autopsy, seek legal counsel and make funeral arrangements.
Channel 2 Action News reached out to the GBI for more information but has not received a response.
