Woman arrested after video shows her beating dog with shoe at Atlanta apartment complex

ATLANTA — A woman has been arrested after a viral video circulated of her brutally hitting a dog at an Atlanta apartment complex.

Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Animal Cruelty Unit have arrested Dwanisha Rayniece Hitchens on charges of cruelty to animals on Feb. 4.

Police say the alleged abuse took place at an apartment complex on Greenbrier Parkway on Dec. 17.

In the video, a woman police said is Hitchens can be seen approaching a dog and shouting before taking off her shoe and repeatedly hitting the dog with it.

Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta and PETA offered a total of $10,000 for her arrest and conviction.
