ATLANTA — Atlanta police said a woman was shot to death in an Uber early Tuesday morning in what appeared to be a “targeted incident.”

Police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that the shooting happened near the intersection of Lindbergh Drive and Adina Drive around 4:30 a.m.

The victim has not been identified.

Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes was at the scene Tuesday, where she talked to the Uber driver off-camera. The driver said he picked the victim up at a strip club on Cheshire Bridge Road. He said as they left, two cars followed him toward Lindbergh Drive and someone started shooting.

A witness, Johari Humbles, said it looked like the victim was ambushed.

Neighbor Nic Taylor said he didn’t see who was following the black Escalade Uber, but the multitude of gunshots woke him up.

“It sounded like a war was going on outside,” Taylor said “I was shook. I mean, usually, when you hear gunshots, it’s just like ‚ ‘Pow! Pow! Pow!’ and it’s over, but that sounded like a good 20 seconds.”

Another witness said she stayed at the scene after talking to police and talked with the victim’s brother. He told her he doesn’t know anyone who would want to hurt his sister, and said she worked at the strip club.

“Turns out she only lives on the next block,” Humbles said. “So she’s less than a block away from home at that red light.”

Police have not said if they have identified any suspects.
