14-year-old, woman killed at southwest Atlanta apartment complex hours apart

ATLANTA — Police are investigating the deaths of a 14-year-old girl and a young woman at a local apartment complex.

The shootings happened hours apart.

Police told Channel 2 Action News someone shot a 14-year-old girl in the head from an upstairs apartment in the 500 block of Cleveland Avenue Monday night.

Police responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m. at the Pavilion Place Apartments.

The investigation into her death is ongoing.

Police said just hours later, they got a call of a shooting in the same complex.

They say when they arrived, they found a 21-year-old woman shot in the head.

Police tell Channel 2's Audrey Washington she died at the scene.

Washington was the first to talk to a woman who heard a gunshot.

"I just heard one single shot," Brandie Harden said Tuesday morning.

At first, investigators say they were told the woman committed suicide, but after talking with the woman’s boyfriend, they decided to take him back to the station and question him some more.

So far, that boyfriend has not been charged with anything.

He was just being questioned early Tuesday morning.
