ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday evening.
At approximately 6:41 p.m., officers responded to 3815 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW to reports of a shooting.
When they arrived they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her left leg.

She was taken to the hospital and was stable.
Investigators said it appears she was shot while she was trying to assault a man.
Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department Aggravated Assault Unit are working to learn the circumstances behind the shooting.
Their investigation is ongoing.
