BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — Friday marks the last day that parents and students in Barrow County Schools can take a survey on safety measures in the district.
The Board of Education put out the survey earlier this month to see what measures parents feel should be prioritized.

The survey asks if those taking it agree or disagree with proposed policies on metal and weapon detection systems, clear bags, mental health support and more.

Earlier this month, Channel 2′s Michael Doudna was at a Barrow County Board of Education meeting where parents criticized the district for having a “lack of urgency” on the new measures.
“To see some progress is nice, but it’s nowhere near what we expected at this point,” parent Sean Shultz said.

While Apalachee High School is the focus of the new measures, they would apply to all Barrow County Schools.
The results of the survey will be discussed at the board’s meeting at the end of January.
