Investigators say a silver Ford Mustang, driven by off-duty Auburn police officer 25-year-old Jacob H. Peek, was driving along Carl-Midway Road just after midnight when Peek lost control and traveled into the opposite lane.
That’s when investigators say Peek’s car hit a black Toyota Corolla, being driven by 28-year-old Zachary C. Smith, killing both drivers.
