BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — The Bartow County community is coming together to remember a beloved deputy who died Monday.
Deputy Matt Aliberti passed away Monday morning due to medical issues, the sheriff’s office said.
The 39-year-old had been with the sheriff’s office since 2016 and served 6 years in the Army before that. Aliberti was also a K-9 patrol officer, as well as a SWAT member.
The sheriff’s office said Aliberti was “a true pleasure to work with.”
Aliberti leaves behind a wife, and two daughters and a son, aged 13, 7 and 2.
The sheriff’s office has parked his patrol car at Zena Drive as a memorial. People are welcome to leave flowers or cards at the site.
The sheriff’s office says it is asking for people to keep his family, friends and co-workers in your thoughts and prayers.
