Father shoots son during argument outside Bartow County restaurant, police say

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga — An argument on Saturday evening led to a father shooting his son outside a north Georgia restaurant on Saturday, according to Adairsville police.

Police said the shooting took place just after 8 p.m. in the parking lot of Blue Agave restaurant on Legacy Way in Adairsville.

During an argument, 64-year-old Stanley Jarrett shot his son, 40-year-old David Jarrett, injuring his forearm and abdomen, according to police.

Both were on the scene when the police arrived.

The father, Stanley Jarrett, was taken to Bartow County Jail and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, reckless conduct, and pointing a gun at another person.

David Jarrett was taken to Floyd Medical Center and taken directly into surgery. He is stable, according to police.

Adairsville police thanked the people who called 911 and the several witnesses outside the restaurant who helped with its investigation.
