ACWORTH, Ga. — The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man they say beat a woman to death with a hammer in Acworth.

Deputies were called to a domestic violence incident at a home on Old Allatoona Road around 4 p.m. on Thursday. When they got to the home, they found a woman dead.

Witnesses told deputies that the suspect ran from the scene. A BCSO drone was able to find the man hiding in a wooded area nearby a few hours later.

Investigators arrested Cory James Slaughter, 29, for murder and on other related charges. The victim’s identity has not been released.
