The first crime happened around 7:15 p.m. near an apartment complex near Piedmont Road, not far from the Lindbergh MARTA station. Police said the woman parked her car near the complex and was getting things out of the trunk when the suspect came up and pointed a pistol at her, demanded her property and took her purse, wallet and keys. He then drove away in her 2019 Chevy Impala.
About four-and-a-half hours later, police said the same man watched and waited for a woman to take money out of an ATM at a gas station on Center Street near Atlantic Station.

Channel 2′s Tom Regan was at the gas station, where police said the man followed the victim inside, acted like he was a customer and watched her withdraw money from an ATM. Moments later, he pointed a gun at her in the parking lot.
“When she withdrew the money, she was walking back to her car and someone ran up to her, pointed a gun at her and demanded the money,” Officer Steve Avery with Atlanta Police said.
The suspect was dressed in a hoodie, skull cap, jeans and a white face mask.
Businesswoman Fatima Camara is a regular customer at the convenience store and said that now, she’s scared.
“Imaging you’re coming to get money, and someone is just robbing you at gunpoint,” Camara said. “You’re just completely defenseless, you know?”
A clerk at the convenience store said they are sharing any pictures or video they have with police.
Police say anyone withdrawing money from an ATM, especially at night, needs to be aware of what’s around them and who may be watching.
