UPSON COUNTY, Ga. — Friends of the two volunteer firefighters that were seriously injured in an accident where a fire engine overturned Saturday are organizing a benefit ride for the couple.
Firefighters Logan Gordy and Trista Cheeks suffered serious injuries when the fire engine they were traveling in overturned while responding to a vehicle accident on Rocky Bottom Road in Upson County, Georgia at about 3:40 p.m. on Saturday.
The couple are engaged to be married in October and are members of the Rock Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Both Gordy and Cheeks were taken by Life Flight to Grady Memorial Hospital.
A benefit ride is being organized by friends for Saturday, July 29.
Registration for the event will be held at the Rock Hill Volunteer Fire Department beginning at 9 a.m.
Riders will hit the road for the ending destination in Warm Springs at 11:30 a.m.
Many sponsors have donated raffle items that will raise funds to assist in Gordy and Cheeks’ recovery.

Gordy’s father has been sharing updates on the progress of his son and Cheeks’ conditions on social media since last weekend.
Both Gordy and Cheeks remain in the Intensive Care Unit at Grady.
Gordy has an inoperable brain bleed and Cheeks is said to be showing improvement after surgery.
Georgia State Patrol are investigating the accident involving the overturned fire engine.
