Snow moves out, bitterly cold temperatures remain

ATLANTA — Most of the snow showers have moved out of Georgia but the very cold temperatures remain.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says the snow flurries that started early Monday afternoon are mostly gone. Temperatures will only reach into the 40s today.

Channel 2 Action News viewers have sent in photos and videos of snow and sleet from way up in the Georgia mountains and even down to parts of the southern metro area.

A few school districts have made changes for Tuesday. Fannin and Gilmer counties both say they will be closed on Tuesday. Chattooga, Pickens, Union and Towns counties have all switched to virtual learning while Dawson County Schools will open on a 2-hour delay.

  • Temperatures will stay in the 30s and 40s
  • Parts of north Georgia saw up to 2 inches of snow in the highest elevations
  • Roads could become slippery from ice and snow
