TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — Troup County sheriff’s officials said they have made an arrest Sunday night after finding a body Saturday.
Sheriff’s officials said deputies responded to the 3100 block of Hammett Road on Saturday at about 5 a.m. in reference to a welfare check for a missing person.
They said they found the person’s vehicle unoccupied and the body of the man on scene.
He was identified as Jerry Lee Folds, 39, of Franklin.
Sheriff’s officials said they believe Folds appeared to be the victim of foul play.
Sunday night, investigators said they had arrested Christopher Scott Rice, 20, of LaGrange, and charged him with malice murder in the death of Folds.
"It does appear at this time that the victim was stabbed numerous times by Rice and he is currently being held in the Troup County Jail," the sheriff's office said in a news release.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assistied the sheriff’s office in investigating the death.
