NEW YORK — Former Vice President Joe Biden and actor Robert De Niro are the latest public figures to be sent suspicious packages like those sent to Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama and others.
A total of nine suspicious packages have been found as of Thursday in what has become a domestic terrorism investigation, law enforcement sources told ABC News. At least five contained devices resembling pipe bombs, intended to maim or kill.
The packages were addressed to:
- Two addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden in New Castle, Delaware.
- Actor Robert Di Niro at his New York City film and television company.
- Hillary Clinton's home in Chappaqua, New York.
- The house of former President Barack Obama in Washington D.C.
- Former Attorney General Eric Holder. That package, which was one of the ones with Wasserman Schultz's return address, was sent back to her Florida office, according to the Associated Press.
- Two addressed to Democratic California congresswoman Maxine Waters in Washington D.C. and her office Los Angeles.
- CNN's New York City newsroom, addressed to former CIA director John Brennan and delivered by a courier.
- The home of billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who has donated to Democratic campaigns, in Katonah, New York.

New photos show the suspected explosive devices sent to locations in New York and Washington D.C.
A device intended for former Attorney General Eric Holder is among those intercepted in recent days.
That's according to two people who spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press to discuss an ongoing investigation.
One of the people says the device was sent to the wrong address. It was then sent back to what was listed as the return address, an office of Florida Rep. Deborah Wasserman Schultz.
"I'm deeply disturbed by the way my name was used," Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said in a statement after officials said a misspelling of her name was used as the return address on at least five packages containing crude explosive devices.
The FBI says five packages containing explosives targeting Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, CNN and others are being analyzed at the bureau's lab in Virginia.
The agency says each package had a return address of "DEBBIE WASSERMAN SHULTZ," a misspelling of the Florida congresswoman's name.
The FBI confirmed all of the packages had printed address labels and six stamps.
Teh FBI said in a statement Wednesday that it's possible additional packages were mailed to other locations and advises the public to remain vigilant and not touch anything suspicious.
