NEW ORLEANS, La. — The truck used in the New Year’s Eve attack in New Orleans had been rented out through a carsharing app, ABC News has learned.
At least 15 people are dead and 35 more are injured after New Orleans police say a driver intentionally crashed into a crowd on Bourbon Street.

The Ford F150 truck’s owner, Rodrigo Diaz, told ABC News that he rented it out to an individual through the app Turo.
Turo allows private users to rent out their vehicles rather than providing a rideshare service like companies Uber or Lyft.
Rodrigo Diaz told ABC News that he is currently speaking with the FBI and declined to comment any further.
His wife, Dora Diaz, told ABC News that she and her husband are devasted about the attack.
“My husband rents cars through the Turo app. I can’t tell you anything else. I’m here with my kids, and this is devastating,” she said.

Police said the suspect opened fire on officers, who returned fire and shot him. The suspect died. Two officers were shot, but are stable.
Police have not released the names and ages of the 15 people who were killed. The University of Georgia has confirmed that one of their students was “critically injured” in the attack.
Multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News that the suspect has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar. Authorities are working to determine whether he had any affiliation with ISIS, sources said.
