Initial response to SunTrust Park becoming Truist Park is less than enthusiastic
The sun has set on SunTrust Park.
On Tuesday, the Braves and Truist, the bank formed by the merger of SunTrust and BB&T, announced the stadium’s new name is Truist Park.
The stadium had been called SunTrust since it opened in 2017.
Social media was quick to respond, and the initial reaction was less than enthusiastic.
TRUIST PARK? NO ONE EVER WOULD HAVE GUESSED.

The Braves new home park will in fact be Truist Park as expected. Just going to say it: it is a missed opportunity to not incorporate Hank Aaron Field in there somehow.

When I think about SunTrust Park going to Truist Park. Doesn’t have the same ring to it. pic.twitter.com/t9sKmM5zkw

Truist Park. Boy they really went out on a limb there. Perfect opportunity to honor Hank Aaron or the culture of the Atlanta Braves, instead went the boring corporate route. Swing and a miss.

The Braves’ Stadium being named “Truist Park” may be the biggest letdown since Ralphie learned his decoder ring message read: Drink More Ovaltine. We all knew it was going to be Truist Park months ago. https://t.co/r7oTAbf87w

@SunTrustPark Hank Aaron field at Truist Park was too easy. Instead you wasted 20 minutes of our lives to announce something that could have been sent out in an e-mail

“Hank Aaron Field at Truist Park” or, as I would shorthand it, “The Hank at the Bank.” Would be great.

Did anyone honestly believe it was going to be called anything else.

I’m just gonna call it Hank Aaron Park and assume everyone knows what I’m talking about.

I guess Fieldy McFieldface didn't win 🤷♂️

But a few people were OK with the name.
First there was Blooper, and now Truist Park. The team keeps getting better and more exciting to watch, but the Braves must be saving money when they hire people that name things. pic.twitter.com/ZbUdwEH8V2

Truist Park isn’t that bad, in my opinion. Soon, you guys will be used to it and it won’t sound odd.
