GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE: Police have identified the woman as an 18-year-old from Lithonia.

Police need your help to identify a woman found shot to death inside a Gwinnett County park.

A man discovered the woman’s body under a tree at the Yellow River Park around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the victim is a light skin Black woman between the ages of 20 and 35. She had three distinct tattoos: A heart cross tattoo with the date 8-16-07 pink or reddish in color on the right side of the neck. A tattoo “Faith makes all possible” on the left side of the neck and what appears to be a Roman lettering with the date 9-16-2002 on the wrist.

“She had a heart cross tattoo with the date 8,16, 07 on the right side of the neck that appears to between red and pinkish color,” said Gwinnett County police officer Hideshi Valle.

The crime has shaken the community and those who use the park.

“It’s a little scary as well as a woman of color, just thinking of how often I’m on these trails that are super secluded with tons of trees,” said park-goer Paige Smith.

Investigators said they are exploring all motives.
