BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — A teen is dead after a car crashed into a house on Old Grassdale Road in Bartow County Friday morning.

According to Bartow County emergency officials, the 2005 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Old Grassdale Road around 8:25 a.m. when the driver lost control and hit the house. The crash ruptured a gas line, which caused a major gas leak.

There were three teenagers inside the car, emergency officials said. The front seat passenger died at the scene. The two others were taken to Cartersville Medical Center.

The teen killed in this accident has been identified as 16-year-old Christian Austin. Christopher Cunningham, 15, was injured and the driver has not yet been identified.

“It sounded like a bomb went off.  It started right, and it looked like they were coming toward my house, and then they shot over there, and it just sounded like a bomb went off,” the homeowner said.

Neighbor Nicole Perry lives next door. She heard the impact, too, and says she always worries about her two children.

Perry said cars drive too fast on Grassdale Road.

"Oh, it's sad. It's sad but unfortunate on our road. It's very crazy. People speed all the time, so you know, me and my husband, we have our two kids and they're constantly flying by so that's just kind of what they do," Perry said.

The crash happened between Peoples Valley Road and Grassdale Road.

Emergency officials initially had trouble getting to the crash site due to the gas leak.
