CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — The Carroll County School District says it’s investigating accusations that four students at Temple Middle School used an illegal substance last week.
Parents of two of the children who are part of the investigation say another student gave them gummies which they didn’t know contained THC. One of the parents said the principal called her Friday afternoon.
“She basically informed me that my daughter was high and I needed to come pick her up because she was not able to ride the bus home. She was vomiting lightheaded, dizzy, anxiety. I’m just upset about the whole situation,” said parent Jennifer Alford.

The other parent told Channel 2′s Tom Regan her daughter looked like a zombie when she arrived at the school to take her home.
“It was terrible. I’ve never seen her look like that. She had blurry vision, eyes bloodshot red, kinda low. She didn’t know if she was coming or going,” said parent Tempestt Glover.
Their 14-year-old daughters said another student gave them a gummy which they split up before quickly realizing that something was wrong.
“Around like fifth or sixth period, I just started feeling really weird. And I just went to sleep that whole period,” said student Nahla Alford.
Both girls say the student who gave them the gummy said it was just candy.
“We had like ate it, and we didn’t know there was anything like bad for us, and do certain things like, make our body feel a certain way. I just had to put my head down, cause I was feeling like I had to throw up,” said student Kelys Glover.

Both students and their parents said the two girls have never used marijuana, alcohol or any other drug. They said the school informed them the students were expelled for the remainder of the school year. They say that’s unfair and unjustified.
“It’s very disturbing. Because I sent her to get an education, not to get a call on Friday to say my daughter is intoxicated,” said Tempestt Glover.
“They shouldn’t have kicked us out. They should let us go back to school,” said student Nahla Alford.
The parents said they will have an opportunity to appeal their children’s expulsion at a hearing next week.
The Carroll County School District shared a statement with Channel 2 Action News that read,
“An accusation involving four students at Temple Middle School using an illegal substance has been brought to our attention. School officials are conducting an internal investigation, and the matter is being handled in accordance with the district’s Code of Conduct.”
