Carrollton officer shot on duty going home after nearly three months in the hospital, rehab

CARROLLTON, Ga. — A Carrollton police officer who was shot in the head in April has a long road to recovery, but is making significant progress as he heads home for the first time in almost three months.

Police say a pair of cousins from Alabama led police on a chase through Carroll County and Villa Rica. During the chase both suspects began firing at officers, injuring three of them, including Sergeant Rob Holloway.

The passenger leaned out of the car and shot Holloway in the head, causing him to strike a pole, police say.

After some time at Grady Memorial Hospital, Holloway was transferred to the Shepherd Center’s Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program where he spent more than two months.
