CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Villa Rica.
Officials told Channel 2 Action News the shooting happened Thursday morning around 4:30 a.m. at the Easy Quick Shop at the intersection of Van Wert Road and Highway 78. Officers were responding to an alarm call at the service station.
The GBI said once police got the scene, they found a man pumping air into his tires.
They asked the man for his information. The GBI said while police checked out his ID, the man got back into his car and pulled forward past the air pump, then he reportedly backed into a pole.
Police commanded the man to stop, but that is when, according to authorities, that man then drove straight towards the officers.
“He came forward towards one of the officers. One of the officers actually discharged his weapon twice. We now know he struck the individual twice. He struck both police vehicles,” GBI assistant special agent Chris DeMarco said.
The man later identified as Daniel Daigle, 30, took off in his car and got away.

Daigle had outstanding arrest warrants for possession of methamphetamine and a probation failure to appear warrant.
Channel 2 Action News learned the GBI took over a second location on Jennifer Lane in Temple around 9:30 a.m.
The suspect car from the Villa Rica shooting was found in that area.
Daigle was also discovered inside a house nearby, suffering from gunshot wounds, sheriff's officials said.
Daigle was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. The investigation is ongoing.
