CARROLLTON, Ga. — A Carrollton Police officer who was injured in a chase and shootout on I-20 last week is making incredible progress in his recovery, the department said Sunday.
Early Monday morning, two cousins from Alabama led authorities on a chase through Carroll County, shooting at officers on Interstate 20 and on Highway 61. Aaron Shelton, 22 of Alabama, was eventually taken into custody. His cousin, 28-year-old Pier Shelton, was killed in the shootout.
Four officers were hurt during the pursuit, but all are recovering.
Officer Rob Holloway was injured when the suspects shot as his car, causing him to crash into a pole. He has been in the intensive care unit since the shootout.
