MIAMI, Fla. — Former University of Georgia quarterback Carson Beck surprised many fans on Friday when he confirmed his transfer to the University of Miami instead of going to the NFL Draft.
Based on several reports, we now have a better idea of what kind of NIL — name, image and likeness — deal that the quarterback will receive.

The Athletic and CBS Sports are reporting that Miami’s NIL collective will pay Beck between $3-4 million, which is double the $1.6 million that Cam Ward reportedly was paid for the 2024 season.
Beck’s NIL representative didn’t go into specifics, but told CBS Sports that Miami was the right market for Beck.
“As one of the premier faces of college football NIL, we expect his brand portfolio to continue expanding with premium and national brands. Carson will prioritize teammate inclusive partnerships that include charitable components,” Dan Everett told CBS Sports in a brief statement.

The move to Miami marks a fresh start for Beck.
While he does have two national titles, both were as a backup to Stetson Bennett. Beck came up short in the chase for his own ring after a loss in the SEC Championship Game in 2023. Then, his season ended in the SEC Championship Game this past season.
Beck injured his right elbow at the end of the first half and returned only to handoff the game-winning touchdown for the Dawgs. On Dec. 23, Beck had surgery to repair his torn ulnar collateral ligament. He missed the Sugar Bowl quarterfinal in the College Football Playoff.
A UGA statement released after Beck’s surgery stated that he would make a full recovery and could start throwing again by the spring.
Beck arrived on Miami’s campus on Saturday, but so far, Miami coaches have not given a timetable for when they expect Beck to start practicing.
“You know, the sooner the better. I know we went through examinations yesterday and everything’s ahead of schedule,” Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said Monday. “I’ll probably have more clarity in maybe a couple of weeks, so I’d hate to say this or that. I know that certainly for the summertime everything is scheduled to be full-throttle, full-go. But there is anticipation of maybe earlier. I just don’t have it yet.”
The Hurricanes hope that Beck can replicate the kind of season the Hurricanes got from Ward, who was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and won ACC Offensive Player of the Year.
