Officers tried to stop the car but the suspects immediately drove away, leading officers on a chase.

The car crashed in the area of Briarcliff Road and Briarcliff Way.

“The suspects wrecked, they jumped out and as they jumped out of the vehicle, they started running,” Chamblee Police Capt. Chris Findley said. “They fired shots at our responding officer, and he was subsequently struck.”

The suspects ran away from the vehicle and shot at the officers. One of the officers was shot and taken to the hospital, where he was stable. His identity has not been released.
