Every year we ask for your help to send homeless children and kids living in group homes back to school. And each year, you bring the supplies that help put a smile on a child's face.
On Saturday, Channel 2 Action News collected school supplies at seven locations across metro Atlanta for thousands of Georgia students in need during our annual "Stuff the Bus" drive.
More than 2,000 backpacks were donated over the course of the day. The first round of deliveries begins on Monday.
Channel 2 Action News reporters and anchors were on hand to gather people's donations.
"Thank you for helping us Stuff the Bus!" Fred Blankenship told people as they arrived.
Atlanta rapper Scotty ATL was one of hundreds of people who came out to donate.
"I think it's dope to be able to give back to kids going to school," the rapper said. "They need to be ready so they can be prepared to have a good school year."
Christina Chambers said there was no question she would donate.
"For us, this was a no-brainer to come out here," Chambers said. "This is a wonderful thing. Yeah, you guys are doing the good stuff. We did the easy part."
Dorothy Solomon donated even though she doesn't have kids of her own.
"I do not have any kids, but I always have a passion to help kids when they need to be helped," Solomon said. "School has always been very important to any child in their life."
Your donations will help keep kids who need it going throughout the school year. Check out the amazing generosity we saw at our seven locations.
