Audio recordings of a threat to blow up the Cherokee County Courthouse have been released.
News Chopper 2 hovered over the courthouse on Tuesday just after the threatening calls were made to 911.
Whoever made the threats used payphones, including one at a Chevron gas station on Roswell Road in Marietta.
The calls forced the courthouse to be evacuated. The grounds were searched after the first call came in from a payphone in midtown. As officials prepared to reopen the courthouse, a second call came in from Marietta.
"There is a bomb at the Cherokee county Courthouse. It's a C-4. Cellphone activated," the caller said.
Both calls specifically mentioned C-4.
Investigators were able to find an image of a silver Cadillac Deville in surveillance footage leaving the Marietta Chevron after the call was made.
The courthouse shutdown cost the county a lot of money – three agencies were involved. Area businesses also suffered from the shutdown.
The Cherokee County sheriff said the caller will go before the same judges he disrupted with the threats and will definitely face jail time.
