Home destroyed after catching fire in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A Cherokee County family is alright, but without their home after it was ravaged by a fire last weekend.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services says they were called to a structure fire around 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening.

Firefighters say when they arrived at the house in the 500 block of Rampley Court between Canton and Waleska, they found it 50% engulfed in flames.

The two people who lived in the home were not home when the fire started.

Waleska, Clayton, North Canton and Canton fire units responded to put out the blaze.

No injuries were reported in the fire.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
