Pops of ammunition heard at fire that sent 2 to hospital, Cherokee County officials say

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services are battling a fire that occurred overnight, Shift Commander Chad Davis confirmed to Channel 2 Action News.

According to Davis, fire officials responded to a call regarding a house fire on Evans Street in Woodstock just before 1 a.m. When they arrived, they found the home 75 % engulfed in flames, he said.

A family of three were inside of the home at the time of the fire, but were able to get out safely. Davis said two of the three were transported to the hospital to be evaluated.

TRENDING STORIES:

A neighbor told Channel 2 he heard loud pops inside of the home as the fire raged. According to Davis, those pops were due to ammunition inside of the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation Davis said.
