Fire crews rescue man, 2 dogs after massive house fire in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Multiple fire and rescue crews responded to a house fire in Cherokee County early Thursday.

According to officials, firefighters went to a home on McCurley Road at 4:38 a.m.

When the fire departments arrived, they realized the single story home basement was engulfed in flames. The fire was coming from the roof and the back of the home.

The home owner told the crew that he was able to escape the home, and two dogs were found outside. The dogs went back and forth into the house.

The crew were able to get the dogs out and the owner was able to secure them.

No one was seriously injured. The homeowner has not been identified.

It’s unclear how the fire started. Fire investigators are still working to determine its origin.
