CANTON, Ga. — Another metro-area school has shut down over possible exposure to coronavirus.
The private school Compass Prep Academy in Canton is voluntarily closing its doors temporarily in an abundance of caution.
A letter to parents that Channel 2’s Matt Johnson obtained from administrators said that a teacher’s child is showing symptoms of the virus.
It says that child attends another school and sits next to a 15-year-old from Fulton County who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week.
State officials are working to ease coronavirus concerns in Georgia; that teen and his father, who was also diagnosed with the virus, remain in quarantine at their home.

The state is also increasing nasal swab testing for people who may be showing symptoms.
“We were given 150 test kits and we have gone through already 50. Today alone we had double-digit individuals tested,” said Dr. Kathleen Toomey, Department of Public Health commissioner. “We still feel the risk is low.”
On Wednesday, Living Science Home Studies announced a temporary closure because the same 15-year-old is a student there.
For now. Gov. Brian Kemp is urging people to prioritize washing hands while the official count of confirmed cases remains at two.
“This is still no time for Georgians to panic. We have no additional cases at this time,” Kemp said Thursday.
Compass Prep will be closed until March 17. It is going to take that time to sanitize the building, which is also home to a church.
