ATHENS, Ga. — Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles will be making a special appearance at the University of Georgia GymDogs’ home opener against Boise State on Friday, Jan. 17.
First-year co-head coach Cécile Canqueteau-Landi coached Biles to the Rio, Tokyo, and Paris Olympic Games.
Canqueteau-Landi and her husband, Laurent, are personal coaches to the 11-time Olympic medalist.

“They’ve been big mentors in like my adulthood (because) they got to see and harness the more mature Simone,” Biles said. “They’ve helped me a lot not just in the gym but out of the gym, too.”
The meet will begin at 7 p.m. at Stegeman Coliseum with gates opening at 6 p.m. The matchup against the Broncos will be Olympics Night and Alumni Night.
The first 500 UGA students will receive a gray belt bag and the first 300 children at the kid’s zone will get a gold medal.
The Georgia GymDogs’ 2025 season will open on Sunday, Jan. 12 in Denver, Colorado.
The GymDogs will take on Denver, Missouri, and Long Island during the season opener.
