ATHENS, Ga. — A pilot is safe after making an emergency landing in Clarke County.

It happened on Christmas Eve, around 5:15 a.m. Athens- Clarke County firefighters were called to Ben Epps Airport on Ben Epps Drive for an aircraft in distress.
The pilot told fire crews the Cessna 337 Skymaster was having difficulty with landing gear.

Numerous fire crews pulled onto the runway as the plane landed.
The fire department said the pilot was able to make a belly landing. Although there was some damage to the plane, no injuries were reported.
