ATHENS, Ga. — University of Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart has handed over the keys to his football team’s offense, to a new starting quarterback.
Smart announced Saturday afternoon that Redshirt Sophomore Carson Beck will be the starting quarterback. Beck will be attempting to lead the Bulldogs to a third consecutive national championship.

Beck, a six foot, four inches, and 220-pound junior from Jacksonville, Fla., backed up quarterback Stetson Bennett last season and now hopes to pick things up where Bennett left off.
After spring practices, it was assumed that Beck was the front-runner for the starting QB role, but it wasn’t made official until Saturday’s announcement.
