ATHENS, Ga. — It is the end of an era for one of metro Atlanta’s most iconic restaurants.
The Varsity announced on social media Monday that it closed its Athens location after nearly 90 years of being in business.
The hot dog and burger joint officially closed for good on Sunday.
The Varsity has been a staple in Athens since 1932, first on College Avenue, before moving to its West Broad Street location in 1964.
